Our children have the opportunity to go out in all weathers so please ensure they have suitable clothing.

Daisychains does have a uniform but is not compulsory for your child to wear it.  If you would like your child to wear uniform, T-shirts, and jumpers with the Daisychains logo on are available from RJ’s Work and Leisurewear in Sheerness.

During hot weather children need to be protected from the sun so we recommend that you provide your child will a top that covers their shoulders and a sunhat.  Your child should also be covered with an appropriate factor sun cream.

During cold weather your child will require warm clothes and wellington boots or shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy.

All clothes must be clearly labelled with your child’s name as it makes it much easier for us to return lost items to their rightful owner.

WHAT IS EYFS?

Daisychains Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years old.

We believe that every child deserves the right to a safe, secure and happy childhood and recognise that a child’s experience in the early years can have a major impact on their future life chances.

We embrace the EYFS Framework wholeheartedly from activities, resources and staff training through to policies, procedures and management.

The framework is mandatory for all early years providers in England and seeks to provide:

  • Quality and consistency in all early years settings, so every child makes good progress and no child gets left behind
  • A secure foundation through learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each individual child and are assessed and reviewed regularly
  • Partnership working between practitioners and with parents and/or carers
  • Equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, ensuring that every child is included and supported

The framework sets specific requirements for learning and development and for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.  There are seven areas of Learning and Development within the framework and these are split into Prime and Specific Areas:

Prime Areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Specific Areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Daisychains Nursery follows a structure of learning, development and care for all our children which enables them to learn through a wide range of activities.

All children are assigned a key person who will take the lead in

  • Developing a strong bond with the child
  • Encouraging them to play freely and confidently whilst feeling safe and self-assured
  • Observing the child and planning activities and learning experiences to embed and develop within the seven areas of learning. Tailoring the activities to the individual child’s needs.
  • Tracking, recording and celebrating the child’s progress with the child and the parents through learning journals
